Pentolites are castable explosive mixtures containing PETN and TNT.
Pentolite came into use by several countries during WW II, primarily as a bursting charge and as a booster surround charge.
Because Pentolite is readily initiated, brisant and castable, it is used as a bursting charge, shaped charge, rocket warhead charge, and as a demolition charge. During WW II Japan used Pentolite as a bursting charge for machine gun bullets as small as 7.7 mm in caliber.
