Hydrogen cyanide (AC) is a colorless and very volatile, non-persistent chemical warfare agent.
It is a highly toxic liquid blood agent that is absorbed into the body by inhalation. It affects the body function through action on the enzyme cytochrome oxidase. It prevents the normal utilization of oxygen by the cells and causes damage to the body tissues, rapidly.
